Aleksandra Nowakowska
Aleksandra Nowakowska is currently studying Choreography and Performance at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen, Germany. She graduated from the Dance Theatre Department of the Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Kraków (Bytom campus). She is a recipient of a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship in the field of Performing Arts. She is the creator of City in Touch, a project exploring the body in urban space, the process of creating and assigning meaning to personal pathways, and movement within the public realm. During the Gdańsk Dance Festival residency, she created the performance Day. Her solo performance SPEECHLESS has been presented at HashtagLab – Contemporary Music Space (together with the PODPORA/KOHYT duo), Przestrzenie Sztuki in Lublin, and the Dance Department of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. She co-created the performance CiałoStanowienie (Body Self-Determination) at the ZODIAK Warsaw Pavilion of Architecture and presented her solo Corpus as part of the FUTUROFONIA: World Premieres series at the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk. She is affiliated with Teatr na Faktach (Theatre of Facts) at the Grotowski Institute, a documentary theatre initiative working with verbatim methodology, where she has co-authored scripts based on original interviews, including Eventually It Will Be Warm, Alternative Life, or A Treatise on Dreams, and eSki.
She has collaborated with the Wrocław Pantomime Theatre, the Grotowski Institute’s Theatre of Facts in Wrocław, and Barakah Theatre in Kraków. She was the dramaturg of A Report to an Academy, directed by Maciej Gorczyński, and participated in the School of Social Dramaturgy led by Artur Pałyga at Stół Powszechny in Warsaw.
